Income Insurance Deepens Commitment to Progressing Climate Transition and Caregiver Support
04 September 2026
Singapore, 4 September 2026 – Income Insurance Limited (Income Insurance) has detailed its progress in advancing a responsible transition and strengthening community resilience in its 2025 Sustainability Report “Here for Tomorrow”. The report expounds on the concept that addressing today’s complex risk landscape — driven by rising costs of living, the healthcare needs in a super-aged society and urgent climate realities, requires collaborative action today to build a more resilient tomorrow.
To build resilience across financial, social, and environmental areas, Income Insurance has continued to embed sustainable practices directly into its core business offerings to deliver consistent long-term social impact. At the heart of this strategy is a commitment to inclusive insurance, which goes beyond providing basic coverage to actively closing Singaporeans’ protection gaps. Key inclusive solutions such as comprehensive personal accident coverage for seniors through SilverCare, and long-term care plans like Care Secure Pro, ensure value-friendly protection for people and communities in need.
This integrated approach is further backed by significant long-term commitments, including deploying approximately S$945 million in green and climate-related investments as of December 2025, moving Income Insurance closer to its S$1 billion climate transition financing ambition. Other commitments include a S$10 million grant to uplift caregiver support, and remaining firmly on track to achieve its long-term pledge to contribute S$100 million to community causes by 2030.
Ms Shannen Fong, Chief Sustainability Officer, Income Insurance, highlighted the insurer’s emphasis on connecting its actions today to future outcomes. “For us, sustainability is about taking tangible actions that are win-win for the business and society – to create value responsibly. This report details how we are translating our commitment to 'Resilience for All' into measurable and impactful progress for our planet, people, customers and communities.”
Advancing climate transition efforts for our shared future
Amid a volatile market environment, Income Insurance remains committed to realising its net-zero ambition by 2050. To support this aim, it is focused on achieving its renewed goal of a 40% reduction in emissions intensity of its public assets portfolio by 2030. To date, the company has already reduced the absolute financed emissions of its public assets portfolio by close to 16% and improved its weighted average carbon intensity by more than 38% from its 2022 baseline.
In addition to its public asset goals, the company recognises that the transition to a lower-carbon economy cannot happen in silos – customers and communities must transition together. It has therefore established clear decarbonisation pathways to aid this transition including a target to reduce emissions intensity per gross-written premium in its private motor portfolio by 30% by 2030.
With electric vehicles (EVs) becoming more prevalent in Singapore, the insurer also continues to support more drivers in switching to EVs in tandem with the progress of Singapore’s EV Roadmap. Income’s eDrivo Car Insurance addresses the specific needs of EV drivers head on, featuring unlimited 24/7 emergency mobile rescue if an EV runs out of charge while on the road in Singapore and parts of Malaysia, as well as enhanced coverage including accidental damage to public and private EV charging stations and coverage for travel-related incidents during overseas road trips.
Strengthening community resilience through partnerships
In parallel, Income Insurance has also made significant contributions towards building community resilience beyond insurance, through supporting community programmes that strengthen social inclusion and well-being. These efforts to build community resilience also include targeted philanthropy and funding, volunteerism, and capacity-building initiatives.
It has committed S$4.2 million to multi-year initiatives in 2025 to address systemic gaps that no one organisation can solve alone. These include supporting programmes that strengthen the financial and mental well-being of caregivers in families, enable seniors to age well in a super-aged society and mobilise collective action towards environmental sustainability.
In 2025, Income Insurance partnered the National Council of Social Services (NCSS) to launch the S$10 million Income OrangeAid Caregiver Support Accelerator Grant– a multi-year commitment to actively build a more robust support ecosystem for caregivers, by strengthening the frontline capabilities of social service agencies.
In addressing evolving customer needs, Income Insurance continued to close protection gaps and improve access to insurance. In 2025, nine in 10 seniors who applied for the company’s life insurance products were offered coverage, while more seniors gained protection through its SilverCare personal accident plan. The insurer also introduced new initiatives such as the Child Secure Project, which provides counselling support for children affected by a parent’s critical illness, and Care Secure Pro, which offers enhanced long-term care protection.
Building a future-ready workforce to better serve society
Internally, Income Insurance has deepened its efforts to foster a learning culture that builds a workforce equipped with future-ready skills. By purposefully investing in its people, Income Insurance ensures that its employees can respond effectively to evolving societal risks, such as demographic shifts, medical inflation, ethical use of data and artificial intelligence (AI). This includes achieving enterprise-wide completion rate of 99% for mandatory training in data governance and responsible AI.
With a well-supported and engaged workforce, Income Insurance continues to stay true to its mission of providing inclusive and value-friendly financial solutions to ensure resilience for all.
