Income Insurance Extends Additional Protection for Travellers Amid Middle East Travel Uncertainty

SINGAPORE, 9 March 2026 – In light of the developing situation in the Middle East and the uncertainty it has created for travellers, Income Insurance today announced support to affected eligible customers who have purchased travel insurance from the company.

Although travel insurance policies commonly exclude claims that arise from war, conflict or unrest, Income Insurance recognises that many travellers remain concerned about their personal safety and are reconsidering their travel plans to the Middle East or transit through the region.

"Travel disruptions caused by geopolitical events can be stressful for travellers to navigate," noted Dhiren Amin, Chief Customer Officer, Income Insurance. "We understand that many are concerned about their safety and are re-evaluating their travel plans. Our priority now is to offer practical support to help customers make decisions that is best for them under these circumstances. We hope to provide some reassurance and better support our customers during what can be a very uncertain period."

While the situation is ongoing, Income Insurance will cover affected customers who have trips within the next 30 days for trip cancellation, postponement, shortening, disruption, and travel delay benefits accordingly based on the policy terms and conditions, if they have trips involving the affected Middle East destinations of Israel, Iran, Jordan, Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. For example, a traveller with an eligible travel policy is flying to, or transiting through Dubai on 20 April can make a claim if the situation is still ongoing on 21 March.

The coverage applies to eligible single trip plans purchased, or trips that were booked (in the case of yearly plans), before 28 Feb 2026, 3.00pm.

Customers must first seek refunds from their accommodation, transport or service providers. A full refund of eligible expenses will be given within the respective policy limits, if and when affected eligible customers are unable to obtain refunds from their accommodation, transport or service providers as stipulated in the travel insurance terms and conditions.
