Beecroft Animal Specialist & Emergency Hospital and Income Insurance Limited have partnered to launch Singapore’s first-ever cashless value-added service for pet surgeries. This collaboration, which covers pre-approved and scheduled pet surgeries, up to the coverage limit, will minimise out-of-pocket expenses for pet owners. It will be applicable to all Income Happy Tails pet insurance policyholders from today, 4 November.
This marks a major milestone in Singapore’s veterinary and pet insurance sectors. The collaboration introduces a fully integrated model that allows all Happy Tails policyholders to have their pets admitted for pre-approved invasive surgeries that require general anesthesia at Beecroft, with a Letter of Guarantee (LOG) so that no upfront cash deposit is required. Co-insurance and deductible will apply, according to the policyholder’s insurance plan.
This partnership represents a groundbreaking step forward in making veterinary care more financially accessible and transparent. It is the first time an insurer and veterinary hospital have jointly implemented a direct claims processing and financing infrastructure for animal healthcare in Singapore, replicating the cashless hospitalization model long established in human healthcare. This paves the way for broader adoption of pre-approval and cashless hospitalization systems across Singapore’s veterinary industry, creating a future where pet owners can access timely care worry-free and without financial hesitation.

The initiative directly addresses one of the most significant pain points in pet ownership: the high cost of specialist and emergency veterinary care. In Singapore, a single overnight stay at a 24-hour hospital can cost between S$1,000 and S$3,000, while complex surgeries can range from S$5,000 to S$15,000. For many pet owners, these high costs create difficult decisions and treatment delays. The new model removes that barrier for Income’s Happy Tails Pet Insurance policyholders, ensuring that pets receive timely surgical care when it matters most.
Beyond affordability, this collaboration also reflects the rising expectations of Singapore’s pet owners. With an estimated 400,000 to 500,000 dogs and cats and an industry projected to reach S$1.3 billion by 2030, pet care is evolving into a family-level priority. Yet fewer than ten percent of Singaporean pet owners currently have pet insurance, compared to 20 percent in Japan and over 30 percent in the United Kingdom. By integrating insurer-approved processes directly with clinical workflows, Beecroft and Income Insurance aims to promote broader insurance adoption and elevate financial transparency across the industry.
As one of the few independent, locally owned specialist veterinary hospitals in Singapore, Beecroft’s leadership in this initiative reinforces the country’s capability to innovate in healthcare for both people and animals. The hospital’s collaboration with Income aligns closely with national goals set out by the Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS) and the Singapore Veterinary Association (SVA) to strengthen accessibility, accountability, and welfare standards across the profession.
