We were delighted to have Pamela Chng, Founder of Bettr Barista, enlighten tertiary students at our recent Income OrangeAid FutureSpeak session.

From learning about the different types of coffee beans, to brewing techniques and career possibilities, our beneficiaries caught a glimpse into the world of coffee-making and learnt how Bettr Barista accomplished being a thriving and sustainable business while delivering positive social impact to the community at the same time.

Pamela closed the session by sharing the importance of why individuals and businesses should care for the environment in which they operate, and her vision for ‘all business to become social businesses.’ As a founder of a social enterprise, she reiterated that the pursuit of profitability and human growth drives her focus on achieving a balanced double bottom-line.

Bettr Barista was founded with the mission of empowering marginalized women and youths-at-risk, through the discipline of coffee-making and holistic, hands-on training in running a business. Today, the Bettr Barista academy provides world-class professional education to its applicants, and advocates for businesses to adopt a mindset of striking a balance between profitability and enriching the community through positive social impact.
