Our insured's bus crashed into a Bedok MRT support pillar and 32 fare paying passengers were injured. This incident was reported in the Straits Times yesterday (27.01.05). The bus driver was also injured.

Claims Assistance Unit (CAU) officers acted immediately and manage to contact one
employer M/s Evershine Pte Ltd (a cleaning company) whose 5 workers were injured in this accident. We are meeting all these 5 workers on Monday to assist them in their injury claims against Income. Our officers also manage to talk to 2 more injured passengers in a nearby Company as well. We have secured 7 injured claimants so far.

The HR Manager of M/s Evershine Pte Ltd replied our e-mail/telephone call and was
happy with our service. The e-mail attached below:

Tks for you e-mail and our tele-conversation this morning. As agreed your colleague Mr. David Phua will be meeting me on Monday 31 Jan 05 to discuss on the injury sustained by 5 of my employees.

My Management was surprised at NTUC’s quick response (as the insurer of the Bus) in intending to help the injured party to ensure that their medical expenses and lost of wages are taken care of immediately.

We would like to express our appreciation the gesture shown by NTUC.

Chew Gek Cheng
HR Manager
