In March 2005, policyholder bought Incomeshield Plan A, attached with Incomeshield Plus rider for her 3-year old daughter. Unfortunately, her daughter was diagnosed of Leukemia on mid May 2005. She stayed in a restructured hospital (Class A ward) for 19 days. The total hospital bill came up to $18,738.
As it was an early claim, a medical report was obtained to determine if her condition is pre-existing in nature. Since we discovered that her condition was newly diagnosed, we paid the full hospital bill.
It is unfortunate that the child was struck with a major illness at the tender age of 3. Without any medical coverage, her parents may have difficulty paying the entire hospital bill. They made a wise decision by purchasing a medical plan for her while she's still young.
