Document Date: December 2005

In February 2005, policyholder bought an Ideal Plan, attached with Living Benefit. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with breast cancer in mid March 2005. Policyholder was devastated and sought her adviser’s assistance to appeal for claim under Living Benefit. This claim should have been rejected based on the 3 months waiting period imposed for any dread disease cover.

Policyholder appealed for a waiver of the 3 months period on the basis of no intention of anti-selection on her part. Moreover, before she was diagnosed with breast cancer, she had earlier cancelled her Hospital Benefit with another insurer. Another mitigating factor was that she and her family members are our loyal policyholders. Our claim colleagues confirmed with her previous insurer and agreed that there was no anti-selection involved. The claim will be admitted in full.

Policyholder appreciate the magnanimous gesture from NTUC Income. This is a powerful testimony, our advisers can relate, with regards to the magnanimous way we handle claims.
