"Hi, I am Peter and if you could spare me just a few minutes............"
"You selling insurance? No, not interested!" Bang! The phone line gets cut off, or the door slams shut!
A typical scenario in the life of an insurance salesperson? Sad, but true.
Many people do not see why they need to have an insurance policy as their lives have been going smoothly and they do not forsee that anything "bad" will happen to them, especially when they are free from any health problems.
But we are all aware at some point or another of someone who suddenly falls very ill or someone who died tragically from a road accident. We see reports in the newspapers every day; yet we choose to ignore them as we cannot believe that these unfortunate events can happen to us or our loved ones, until it is too late......
Penny (not her real name) was a young and bubbly girl who had everything going for her. At age 23, she had just got married, gotten a new home, had a great career working in an established corporation as a manager, and she never had any health problems in her life. When she was approached by our Income sales representative to discuss about an insurance policy; she brushed it off, as she didn't think that she needed any insurance as she was still very young and healthy and financially stable.
However, as the sales representative is also her friend, she decided that he would not "sell" her anything unless he truly believes in the product. After hearing him talk about insurance with such sincerity and passion, Penny was convinced and decided that since the premiums are very affordable and that they could become more expensive as she grows older, she would take up the Living policy with Income.
On a typical Monday morning after a bustle of activities over the weekend, barely a week after she bought the insurance plan, Penny bid her husband and mother good-bye and went to work as usual. Unfortunately, things were far from "typical" or "usual" that fateful morning, for Penny was knocked down by a fast moving vehicle while crossing a road. She was seriously injured and died less than an hour later at the hospital.
On hearing the news of her tragic death, her family could not believe this truth and was inconsolable. In the midst of this state of despair, our sales representative immediately contacted our office and 3 days' later, the cheque of $80,000 was presented to the bereaved family, the policy being only 1 week old. The family, though in mourning, was very grateful that Income made such a prompt payment to assist in the funeral expenses.
