Document Date: 3-January-1997

The recent accident at the Malaysian North-South highway is cited as one of the most tragic events in 1996 as 13 Singaporeans out of the 25 passengers on board the travel bus lost their lives. One of the victims is a 15 year old girl who lost her grandmother, both parents and her 10 year old brother in the accident. She became an orphan overnight.

Even though nothing can change the fact that her loved ones will never come back, she does have caring relatives to look after her. In addition, her parents were insured with their respective unions under the SLF GIFT policy bought by SLF for all union members. Upon notification of the deaths, INCOME immediately issued 2 cheques of $13,500 each to SLF for presentation to the girl.

We may not be able to alleviate the pain that she is going through physically and emotionally but we are at least able to help her financially to tide over this difficult period.
