The insured is an air-conditioning company providing servicing and
installation of air-conditioning systems. Three of their technicians
were sent to service airconditioners at a customer's terrace house.
While one of them was servicing a system installed on the external wall
on the 2nd floor, he slipped and fell through an awning and landed on
the concrete floor, dislocating his arm. Due to the incident, the
insured was faced with a claim from the owner of the affected premises
as well as had to pay for the injury sustained by the worker.
Forunately, the insured had a Business Insurance Policy with us. This
policy includes both Workmen's Compensation and public liability coverage.
As such, Income settled with the third party owner for the damaged
awning at $1,520.00 on the insured's behalf, and reimbursed the insured
$7,000.00 for medical expenses incurred by the worker and for his wages
during his medical leave. It is anticipated that further payment will
be made under the policy for compensation to the worker for his injury
when the percentage of disability suffered by him is confirmed later.
