    • Stay cool and don't panic. If no injury is involved, do drive your vehicle to the side of the road or somewhere safe.

    • You should have a copy of the Singapore Accident Statement (SAS) form in your vehicle. The SAS form should be completed at the scene of accident and it consists of two parts:

      • Accident Statement (Part 1):
Fill and complete this part. Get the other driver involved in the accident to fill up his version on Vehicle B portion and sign it too. The SAS form is carbonised, one copy for you and one copy for the other driver. The Accident Statement helps us to establish the basic facts of the accident. It is not an admission of liability.

      • Individual Statement (Part 2):
This part can be filled later as it does not require the signature of the other driver. Once completed, please proceed to submit your SAS form to our Reporting Centres within 24 hours or latest, next working day after accident.

    • If none of the drivers involved has a Singapore Accident Statement form, then be sure to take note of the essential details:
      • The registration numbers (number plates) of all other vehicles involved
      • The names, NRIC No, addresses and telephone numbers of the other driver(s)/owner(s) and any witnesses
      • The names of insurance companies for the other driver(s)
    • SAS forms are also available at our Reporting Centres.

    • Avoid all roadside touts offering free tow-truck services and referral to unauthorised workshops with free use of rental cars. They may compromise your claim or defence to a claim.

    • Avoid discussing liability with others involved in the accident, or their lawyers. Refer all communications from them to your insurance company.

    • If an accident involves injury, do not shift the car, call the police immediately. You must also make a police report within 24 hours of an accident involving

      • Damage to a government vehicle or property
      • A foreign vehicle
      • A pedestrain or cyclist
      • A hit-and-run party

  2. How To Make An Own Damage Claim for Repair of Your Vehicle?

    • You are advised to report the accident immediately at our Reporting Centres ie the Independent Damage Assessment Centre (IDAC) within 24 of hours. The location of the Reporting Centres is available on the reverse side of your Certificate of Insurance.

    • You may call Income's 24 hour hotline: 6788 6616 for location of the nearest IDAC. You may send us a picture of the damage and position of the vehicle through MMS : 9711 2758 with the vehicle number and date of accident in the following format <vehicle number>, <DDMMYY>.

    • If towing service is needed, you can call our 24-hour hotline at 6877 6616  for towing at no charge to you (within Singapore).

    • At the IDAC, you will be required to file an accident report and submit a claim to your insurance company.

    • IDAC will assess the damages to your car and we will authorise repair within two working days.

    • Your car will be repaired at a workshop selected by Income in accordance with the policy conditions.

    • You can lodge a claim against the third party, if you are clearly not at fault and the third party is not insured with NTUC Income.  Our quality workshop can assist you to make a third party claim.

    • However if both parties are insured with NTUC Income, we would advise both parties to claim under their own motor policy. The party who is not at fault will not be penalised with NCD reduction.

Important Note: We will exercise our right under Condition 8 to terminate the policy if you fail to comply with the policy conditions. The No Claim Discount (NCD) will be reduced for non-reporting or late reporting of accident and your claim may be prejudiced.

  3. Accident in Malaysia

For accidents in Malaysia, you must make a Malaysian police report within 24 hours even though the accident is between Singapore registered vehicles.  You will need to pay a fine of RM300 if you are assessed to be at fault.

If towing services are required, you can call NTUC Income's 24-hour hotline: 6788 6616 for assistance.

You will have to pay for the towing service directly to the recommended service provider, based on mutual agreement. The service provider will tow your car to the nearest reporting centre and you can then file an accident report at same reporting centre upon your return to Singapore. You can submit a claim upto $200 for the towing service as provided for under the Scope of Cover of your policy.

  4. Courtesy car / Transport allowance

From the 2nd day your car is in our quality workshop or reporting centre, you will enjoy either of the following benefits : Upon availability, a courtesy car for the duration of the  repair to a maximum of 14 days or Transport allowance of $50 per working day for the duration of the repair to a maximum of 14 days. A refundable deposit of $50 will be charged for the usage of the courtesy car.

Note : The above benefits are applicable to insured under Quality Plus / Classic Plus / Premium Plus coverage.

  5. No Claim Discount

Our policyholder enjoy a 10% 'No Claim Discount' upon renewal of their motor insurance premium if there is no claim during the previous policy year.

For every 'claim free' year, the discount will be increased by 10% to a maximum of 50% over five years.

  6. Third Party Claims

If you have reported the accident to us, we will handle the third party claims for you.  We will communicate with the third party and/or their lawyers and resolve the matter at best for you.

It is common for lawyers to serve Writ of Summon for third party claims.  Do not be alarmed.  We will accept service on your behalf.  However, in case the lawyers have acted against our request and serve it on you personally, you should hand it to us immediately upon receipt so that we can appoint our lawyer to enter appearance on your behalf within the next 8 working days. You may call us at 6788 6616 for advice.

  7. Repairing your vehicle

For policyholder insured under the Quality Plan /Classic Plan, NTUC Income will assign an appointed Quality Workshop to repair your vehicle. In normal circumstances, the repair will commence within 2 business days after reporting. The actual time taken for the repair will depend on the extent of the damages. The workshop will provide a 6 months warranty on the repair.

For policyholder insured under the Premium Plan, you can have the repair of your vehicle carried out at the car distributor's workshop or your preferred workshop:

    -  You will report the accident at our reporting centres before sending the vehicle to your workshop.

    -  We will assign our surveyor to survey the vehicle once your workshop submits a repair estimate to NTUC Income.

  8. Spare Parts unavailability

The insurer shall not be responsible if the spare parts are not available. Arrangement will be made for the unavailable spare parts to be shipped in at our cost. However, if the spare parts have to be air freighted, then the air freight charges shall be borne by the policyholder. During the period where spare parts are not available and due to this the repair is delayed, neither courtesy car nor transport allowance will be provided.
